Living Her Legacy is excited to create the first Historic Women's Public Art Exhibit now called "Living Her Legacy" in Old Town Fort Collins, Colorado, USA. This art/education exhibit will recognize women with ties to Fort Collins who have contributed to the fabric of our community.

This money will be used to host the 5th grade Role Model/Mentor art workshops, to purchase one laptop for the Girl Leaders Success 4 Teens program and to pay our artists.

We plan to initiate the 5th grade art workshops Fall 2020 (they had to be cancelled from Spring dates due to Covid-19 virus) and the Girl Leaders program Fall of 2020. We also plan to have the first twelve completed portraits unveiled in this Historic Women's Public Art Exhibit during 2020. We will let you know when the official date is announced for the inaugural event.

Help us bring the art workshops and Girl Leaders classes to students in 5th grade/high school to girls in underserved populations in our community.

Our goal is $6,000.00. These can be in the following: 100 $60 donors or 120- $50 donors or 172 $30 donors or 300 $20 donors) by May 29, 2020. Donate today and we invite you to introduce a colleague, family member, or friend to help us recognize women's accomplishments and inspire girls futures?

The exhibit will recognize 48 women total over the course of three years. The first twelve are scheduled for installation in 2020, with your help. Every six months, we will host a new unveiling for the next twelve notable women. The portraits will be created using a woodcut reduction print technique and then digitally printed onto metal weather proofed and graffiti-proofed panels. These panels will be installed in Old Town on the north side of Cooper Smith's Poolside Pub for the public to view. Their life journey including written information, video and audio interviews of the Legacy Honoree women will be posted on our website. The first Role Model/Mentor art workshops will be held at the Aztlan Center during the after school program time. We will have a female adult partner for each 5th grade girl who participates. They will discuss and share stories about each others lives, pets, dreams and more. Then they will create an art project in three sections that one section goes home with the student, one with adult participant and one for our nonprofit. If you are interested in being an adult participant contact Patti Smith, to learn more, at

Why is this important?

We know that women typically have not been acknowledged for their accomplishments. Research shows that girls need women role models.

This art/education exhibit will inspire the next generation of women leaders.

It will also provide the community with educational and historic value. Our project includes creating curriculum from elementary to college level courses to deepen students' understanding of these women who have made a difference in our community and their personal journeys.

The purpose of the art exhibit is to educate our community and to inspire women in their own innate potential and possibility as they learn from these courageous women. The art exhibit will benefit the community greatly by adding to Fort Collins' identity of being a cultural center and tourist destination.

This Living Her Legacy art/education project includes education curriculum regarding role model/mentor discussions for school children and success education/mentor experiences for at underserved teen-aged girls and teen moms.

Zonta aims to promote social good both locally and worldwide through our advocacy and service projects. Our vision is to recognize women's accomplishments and to inspire the next generation of women. We now have three women artists and in addition to Rachael Davis, MFA, CSU who is our Project Director/Portrait Artist, we have Trish Murtha a very talented water color artist who is our Role Model/Mentor Art workshop Facilitator/Portrait Artist and Isis Lanigan a wonderful artist/photographer, our Portrait Artist. As you partner with us, together, we will inspire the next generation of female leaders!
